Peer group members serve as consultants to each other, visiting one another’s organizations and bringing valuable, highly trusted “extra eyes and ears” to the assessment process as well as to creating and managing change. Recommendations have proven not only useful but essential to improving general oversight and enhancing specific programs.
The Peer Collaboration model has been used for nearly a decade by at least a dozen mhca leaders. Your mhca Board of Directors has approved the concept as an official mhca membership benefit and funded the cost of an initial mentoring consultation with a representative of Peer Partnerships and provide consultation through the first site visit. While the Peer Collaboration model has been tried and proven as an effective methodology for peer groups, the exact form and function of new groups will be determined by the group members.
