Committees & Forums

Much of mhca's work is carried out through its committees and forums.  Members find that participating in these groups affords them opportunities for learning and networking as they contribute personally to the continued growth and development of mhca. Standing Committees oversee the central and ongoing business of the organization; Forums examine topics of critical and timely concern and are open to participation by all members;  Task Forces carry out specific projects identified and supported by the membership at large but are usually limited to an appointed core of members.


 

Executive Committee


The Executive Committee is composed of the officers of the Board of Directors (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) plus the Immediate Past Chair and the President of the Corporation. This Executive Committee has full authority to take action in any emergency arising between regular meetings and assists the President in formulating plans and making recommendations to the Board. It meets at least quarterly at a time and place designated by the Committee Chair.  The Executive Committee also acts as the Audit Committee for the Corporation.

Investment Committee


This Committee, chaired by the mhca Treasurer, brings to the mhca Board via the Executive Committee, recommendations regarding Investment Management proposals and revisions to the current Investment Policy.  Policy revision considerations can include but not be limited to: purpose of investments/reserves, articulation of investment philosophy, goals/objectives, asset allocation guidelines, role and responsibilities of the Board, the Investment Manager, the staff, and how the Investment Manager’s performance will be evaluated.

Nominating Committee


This Committee, chaired by mhca’s Immediate Past Board Chair, provides oversight and establishes the process for nominations and elections for the mhca Board of Directors. It also presents a slate for election of the officers of the Corporation.

Membership Committee


This Committee brings to the mhca Board via the Executive Committee recommendations regarding the role of the Board in membership recruitment, membership vetting, new member orientation on on-boarding, membership engagement and retention/renewal.

Care Management Task Force


The Task Force Chair works with consultant Bob Dyer of Foothills Behavioral Health Partners and an appointed member counsel of 3-6 members to set the direction and identify the deliverables of the Task Force. For each mhca quarterly conference, this Task Force identifies/facilitates/develops either a general session or break out/workshop presentation for the membership relevant to care management initiatives.  It also meets quarterly as a Task Force to educate and engage other mhca members in the association’s care management efforts.  A quarterly Care Management Bulletin that provides concise information on topics impacting community based behavioral healthcare is provided by the Task Force to mhca members.

Marketing & Fundraising Forum


Forum participants explore issues, goals and strategies to enhance their corporate identity and maximize their development capabilities. Guidance is given for conference presentations on marketing and fundraising topics. The solid reputation of our members serves as an excellent basis for mhca's corporate brand. mhca seeks to expand our shared recognition in order to further members' reach within and beyond their communities.
